What customers say?

“ The first thing I noticed is the extensive menu! How can this place keep up with all the food listed. And to be fair, all of our orders were available (no “sorry mam/sir we already ran out of that) I so loved the fried eggplant wrapped in batter. The french beans cooked in salted egg was also very tasty. And the pansit we ordered! Nothing in it except for a few vegetable leaves but the flavor simply hits the right spot! Our server was also very knowledgable in explaining to us our choices and what’s good is her passionate way of telling us about their food! ”

“ This Shanghainese restaurant surprised us! Food was really good! No food was overwhelming to the taste, the duck was perfect, the food was served fast and efficient , but most importantly, the staff were all attentive and very kind. If we want to eat good chinese food, this will be our new go to restaurant. This is way way way better than china blue. ”

“ Both Managers (Jasmin & Jerry) were very accommodating and polite. The set menu prepared for us was exquisite and served in a timely manner. I enjoyed our post honeymoon/valentines celebration at Hua Yuan. I will recommend this to family & friends. Thank you. ”

“ I had a wonderful experience with the Shanghainese cuisine here. The meal began with a complimentary appetizer of crispy rice with seaweed, which was delightful! Kudos to the chef for that. The variety of soup dumplings was impressive; I particularly enjoyed the classic xiao long bao and the crab version, both were delicious. The crispy pork stood out as my favorite from the meat platter—absolutely fantastic! However, I wasn't as keen on the Hainanese chicken, which was served a bit too cold, and the beef shank felt a tad dry. I’d recommend sticking with the crispy pork. The truffle fried rice, mushrooms with asparagus, and braised pork were all excellent choices. The steamed grouper was fresh and flavorful, but it would have been better if the waiter had deboned it properly, as I almost choked on a fish bone. This could pose a risk for kids. Despite these minor issues, the overall taste and quality of the food were impressive, making it a place worth visiting for great Shanghainese dishes! ”

“ First time to try Hua Yuan and I’m happy to report it’s a good Chinese restaurant, but some dishes need a bit of adjusting to the seasoning. Nevertheless, we had a good time dining here. Pork Taro Puff with char siu filling - 5/5, great crunch while the mashed taro is still very smooth. The char siu inside adds texture and tasted great. Wish I took a picture of this tbh. Chicken Feet - 5/5, very savory and delicious chicken feet. Would also get this again next time. String Beans with Salted Egg Sauce - 4/5, the beans felt they weren’t cooked fully to provide a crunch. This isn’t necessarily bad because the salted egg sauce was very balanced. It wasn’t overwhelmingly salty, just right. Sweet and Chicken - 4/5, nicely cooked fried chicken nuggets. I just wished the marinade for the chicken was a bit saltier. Disregarding the sauce, biting into the chicken nuggets felt a bit bland, and it feels most what I tasted was the sweet and sour sauce itself. Beef Tendon - 3.5/5, I’m a bit torn here because the dish was a bit salty but those generous pieces of tendon really compliments it. I love the eating the beef tendons with the sauce. Unfortunately the beef wasn’t quite as soft. In fact, it was quite tough for a high star hotel-quality food. ”
